Whether you’re a British Columbian travelling outside the province or a visitor to Canada, travel occasionally or frequently, travel alone or with your family, you can trust that you’re covered by one of B.C.’s leading travel insurance providers.

Trip cancellation/trip interruption coverage

How does trip cancellation/trip interruption insurance work?

BCAA protects the financial investment of your trip. If your plans are cancelled before your departure date, or interrupted after it has begun as the result of a covered risk, you could be reimbursed for your expenses.

What risks could be covered?

  • Sickness
  • Injury or death of you, your travelling companion or one of your immediate family members
  • Canadian Government travel warning advising not to travel to your destination
  • Missed connections
  • Others - see policy wording (PDF) booklet

What expenses could be covered?

Non-refundable pre-paid expenses could be covered, some examples are:

  • airline tickets
  • cancellation penalties
  • non-refundable hotel bookings

How do we purchase cancellation/trip interruption/trip disruption insurance?

You can add it to a travel medical insurance policy. Or if you have confirmed out-of-province medical coverage through your employer or credit card, it can be purchased on its own.

If you are a family interested in purchasing a trip cancellation/trip interruption/trip disruption Insurance plan on its own, please call or visit a BCAA Service Centre to purchase.
