Anyone from B.C. who drives a vehicle needs insurance. BCAA steers you through the many coverage options to find the best plan for you.

Renew your coverage

When is it time to renew?

You'll get a Notice to Renew in the mail from ICBC. Just bring that into one of BCAA's offices on or before the expiry date of the policy, and we'll make sure there's no lapse in coverage.

How do I renew?

Because ICBC needs your signature, you'll need to come in person to one of our locations.

What should I bring?

  • Notice to Renew
  • Current insurance papers
  • Valid driver's license
  • AirCare inspection report (if you need Aircare)
  • Void cheque (if you want to arrange financing)
  • You might also need to bring documentation that shows you're the principal operator

How do I know if I need AirCare?

Your Notice to Renew will let you know if you need to get an AirCare inspection. Make sure you go through AirCare before coming to renew your insurance, as you'll need to bring the inspection report.

What are the payment options?

You can pay in full with cash, cheque or credit card. You can also choose the monthly option. If you'd like to arrange a monthly payment plan, please bring a void cheque if you have a chequing account, or a bank statement if you have a savings account that allows pre-authorized payments or a credit card.

What if I can't come in person?

Just complete and sign the authorization section on the back of your Notice to Renew from ICBC. Then give that and any other relevant documents to the person who's going to renew your auto insurance on your behalf.

What about my Advantage Auto or Advantage Motorcycle?

It's easy. If you're on the Equal Payment Plan, your coverage and payments automatically renew, unless you ask us to cancel it. If you aren't on the Equal Payment Plan, just get the same documents ready as if you were renewing regular ICBC insurance, and also bring your Advantage Auto renewal letter and offer. You can pay at any of our 27 locations or by phone at 604-268-5555 or 1-800-663-1956. To avoid a lapse in coverage, please make sure to renew by the policy expiry date.
