Whether you’re a British Columbian travelling outside the province or a visitor to Canada, travel occasionally or frequently, travel alone or with your family, you can trust that you’re covered by one of B.C.’s leading travel insurance providers.

The basics of travel insurance

Why do I need travel medical insurance?

British Columbia's provincial health plan (MSP) may cover only up to 10% of the medical expenses you and your family incur while travelling outside B.C. To ensure you're protected from costly medical bills outside the province, BCAA gets you the coverage you need to travel with confidence.

What does travel insurance include?

BCAA's plans include both medical and non-medical options:

  • Emergency medical insurance
  • Option to enhance coverage for pre-existing health conditions
  • Single and multi trip plan options and various trip lengths to choose from
  • Additional coverages

Types of additional coverages

Additional coverages are in addition to your base policy. Coverage options that BCAA offers are:

Trip Cancellation/Trip Interruption/Trip Disruption Insurance

Provides reimbursement of travel costs due to a covered risk if your travel plans are cancelled prior to the departure date of your trip or disrupted after your trip has begun.

Baggage Insurance

Covers the loss, damage or theft of your baggage, personal effects and/or currency.

TravelGold Accident Insurance

Provides payment in case of death or dismemberment as a result of a covered accident.

Additional Air Travel Related Expenses Coverage

Provides coverage for expenses resulting from a flight being delayed more than 4 hours and/or when your baggage is lost or delayed more than 6 hours.
