Whether you're a British Columbia resident travelling outside B.C. or a visitor to Canada, travel occasionally or frequently, travel alone or with your family, BCAA covers you, so you can enjoy your vacation or business trip.

The basics of travel insurance

Why do I need travel medical insurance?

British Columbia’s provincial health plan (MSP) may cover up to 10% of the medical expenses you and your family incur while travelling outside B.C.  BCAA helps you get the coverage you need, which means even though medical care costs outside of Canada can be significantly higher, you could be protected.

What does travel insurance include?

BCAA’s plans include both medical and non-medical options:

  • Emergency medical insurance
  • Option to enhance coverage for pre-existing health conditions
  • Frequency and length options: single and multi trip plan options and various trip lengths to choose from
  • Optional Trip Cancellation/Trip Interruption/Trip Disruption Insurance, which can include the cost of cancelled flights and non-refundable, pre-paid expenses if you need to cancel or return home early, due to a covered risk

What are the other benefits of BCAA's plan?

We offer great claims service, available from anywhere in the world, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. And convenient payment options.

Who is eligible for travel insurance?

Eligibility requirements vary by product.  Please refer to the policy wording booklet for more information.
