BCAA School Safety Patrol Program

Helping support safe school zones throughout BC.

Safety around school zones is extremely important. The high traffic volume in school zones at drop-off and pick-up times can be risky for students and families who are crossing the road. BCAA and the CAA School Safety Patrol program have been keeping students safe in school zones since 1929.

With the BCAA School Safety Patrol program, a school and the surrounding community can expect to see the following benefits:

student leadership
Student Leadership

Grades 5-7 students are trained to become Patrollers, leading their peers across the road – helping them develop important personal skills including leadership, teamwork, volunteerism and a sense of social responsibility

Promote Safer Travel Routes
Safer Travel Routes

Pedestrians and drivers have a safer route to travel when passing through busy school zones.

At BCAA, our commitment to community begins at the crosswalk and BCAA School Safety Patrollers are at the forefront of that mission. We like to think of them as the superheroes of the crosswalk, donning their fluorescent vests every day to keep their classmates safe — rain, shine, sleet or snow.

Thank you, Patrollers
