"Vaisakhi" Contest

Official Contest Rules and Regulations


Contest is open to residents of British Columbia who have reached the age of majority by Friday April 6, 2018, excluding employees of British Columbia Automobile Association ("BCAA"), its advertising and promotional agencies and family members with whom these employees are domiciled. This contest is being promoted by BCAA, 4567 Canada Way, Burnaby, BC V5G 4T1.


No purchase necessary. The "Vaisakhi" contest (the “Contest”) begins April 6, 2018. To be entered into the Contest, provide your name, address, email, consent to receiving news, exclusive deals and promotions from BCAA and, if applicable, BCAA Membership number, and at your option, your car insurance expiry and home insurance expiry date, to BCAA by completing a paper ballot at the BCAA booth at the 2018 Vaisakhi Parade in Vancouver or Surrey or at any of the following BCAA service locations: Abbotsford, Delta, Surrey or Marine Gateway or via our website at Contest applicants will be asked for their name, address, current email address and consent to receiving news, exclusive deals and promotions from BCAA as part of the contest entry process. Contest Applicants must opt in to receive emails and other communications containing news, exclusive deals and promotions about products and services offered by BCAA to enter the Contest, and if they consent to receive such emails and correspondence, at any time, individuals may opt out of receiving such emails and communications via an “unsubscribe” or “opt out” link embedded in a BCAA email or communication.

To be eligible for Contest entry, all ballot entries must be received by BCAA no later than the close of business on April 27, 2018 (”the Contest Closing Date”). LIMIT a maximum of one (1) entry per person/address/household.

By completing a ballot entry all entrants consent to collection and use by BCAA of the personal information provided when the entrants enters the Contest for the purpose of administering this Contest and contacting entrants who have consented to being contacted by BCAA and in accordance with BCAA’s Privacy Policy. BCAA will not be responsible for or have any liability resulting from entries which are mutilated, delayed, lost, stolen or misdirected. Mechanically reproduced entry forms will not be eligible to win.


In addition to the methods of entry detailed above, an eligible participant may also enter the Contest by sending one 3 inch by 5 inch index card with their name, email address and mailing address printed on one side of the card to BCAA at BCAA, 4567 Canada Way, Burnaby, BC V5G 4T1, Attn: Vaisakhi Contest Entry. Provided that this card is actually received by BCAA before the Contest Closing Date, the card will function as one (1) entry ballot in the Contest.


There is one (1) Prize to be won consisting of one (1) $500 gift card (collectively a “Prize”).

Prize(s) must be accepted as offered and cannot be exchanged, transferred, substituted or added on to in any way. BCAA reserves the right to substitute other prizes of equal or greater value if any of the prizes offered becomes unavailable for any reason.

Winner must answer skill testing question.


A random draw will be held at BCAA’s Home Office on or around May 15, 2018 to select one (1) potential winner for the Prizes.

Chances of winning a Prize will be dependent upon the number of eligible Ballots received at the Vaisakhi Contest Closing Date. The selected entrants will be notified by e-mail or phone. BCAA will contact the winner(s) by telephone at the telephone number provided on the Ballot entry or by email if provided on the Ballot entry. If, for any reason, after 3 attempts it is not possible within a 48-hour period to contact a selected entrant(s) despite customary diligent efforts, BCAA and its agents reserve the right to disqualify that entrant(s) and randomly select another entrant(s) for the corresponding prize.

Before being declared a winner of a Prize or a Secondary Prize, each selected entrant must first correctly have answered a time-limited, mathematical skill-testing question. Failure to correctly answer a skill-testing question will mean that the selected entrant will be disqualified.

Before being declared a winner of a Prize, each selected entrant must first sign a Winner’s Affidavit & Liability/Publicity Release form, agreeing to the use of his or her name, address (city only), photo, voice and/or statements without compensation other than the prize offered. Failure to sign these forms will result in the selected entrant being disqualified.

By entering the Contest, all entrants agree to be bound by these Official Contest Rules and Regulations. All decisions of BCAA with respect to all aspects of this Contest are final. All residents of British Columbia are eligible to win, providing they are over the age of majority on April 6, 2018, and providing that they are not employees of BCAA, or their advertising or promotional agencies or family members with whom these employees are domiciled, or employees of the Aberdeen Centre or Fairchild Developments Ltd.

If for any reason in the opinion of BCAA, in its sole discretion and without notice, the contest is not capable of running as planned or if the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the contest is corrupted or adversely affected, including by reason of infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, errors or other causes beyond its control, BCAA reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the contest including any method of entry.

BCAA is not be responsible for telephone, technical, network, online, electronic, computer hardware or software failures of any kind, misdirected, stolen, incomplete, garbled or delayed Internet/e-mail computer transmissions on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any web site, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to participant’s or any other person’s computer relating to or resulting from participants or downloading any materials in this contest, inaccurate entry information, whether caused by equipment, programming used in the Contest, human processing or otherwise, or any combination thereof; or any injuries, losses or damages of any kind arising in connection with or as a result of the prizes, or acceptance, possession, or use or misuse of the prizes, or from participation in the Contest.

Finally, BCAA reserves the right to modify these Official Contest Rules and Regulations at our sole discretion and without notice without materially affecting the terms and conditions of the contest.

All Ballots become the property of BCAA. No correspondence will be entered into with any contestants except with the selected entrants. The contest is subject to all Federal, Provincial and Municipal regulations and is void where prohibited by law. These Official Contest Rules and Regulations shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the province of British Columbia.
