Fireweed (Epilobium angustifolium) is a vibrant and hardy plant native to Canada and commonly found in BC. With its distinctive magenta flowers clustered at the top of its stem, it is known for its ability to quickly grow and spread after a disturbance such as wildfires. While considered a weed, it is a source of food for various wildlife and has cultural significance for Indigenous communities, who harvest the flowers for numerous uses including food, textiles and medicine.
