You can renew your ICBC policy online if you meet the following criteria. Online renewals are available daily between 5:00 am – 12:00 am PST.
- My vehicle is in one name only and is not in a company name
- My policy is not a leased vehicle (for policies effective prior to January 6, 2025)
- My policy is active (not expired), and I am looking to renew my existing coverage
- I do not have any outstanding debts with ICBC
If you have BCAA Optional Car Insurance, you may also renew your existing coverage online. Renewing online will not allow you to make any changes to your policy or coverage. Before renewing, we recommend reviewing your policy to make sure it meets your needs.
Check if you are eligible to renew online by answering a few simple questions. Get started now.
If you prefer, you can renew with a BCAA Insurance Expert by calling 1.888.268.2222 Monday to Friday 8am – 6pm or Saturday 9am – 5pm, or by visiting your local BCAA Service Location. Note, some transactions cannot be completed over the phone, and you’ll need to visit a BCAA Service Location.
Most ICBC policies can be renewed over the phone, although you’ll need to visit a BCAA Service Location for the following transaction types:
- I need to transfer vehicle ownership
- I need to cancel an existing policy
- I need to replace or request a new license plate
- I need to renew and make changes to a policy with more than one vehicle owner
To continue with your renewal over the phone or for any other car insurance needs, give us a call at 1.888.268.2222 Monday to Friday 8am – 6pm or Saturday 9am – 5pm. Or, visit your local BCAA Service Location.
To coincide with the launch of online renewals and making car insurance more convenient, starting May 1, 2022, British Columbian drivers are no longer required to display a decal on their licence plate.
What continues to be important is ensuring that you keep your insurance documents in your vehicle at all times. If you're renewing online, you'll be able to print these out at home, request a copy by mail or, pick up a copy at your nearest BCAA Service Location.
If you drive less than 10,000 km each year, you could be eligible for ICBC’s Distanced-based Discount. If you think you may be eligible, submit your odometer reading online. Proof of your odometer reading must be dated within 7 days before or after your policy renewal date.
