The use of hand-held communication and entertainment devices is against the law while driving or operating a motor vehicle in BC.

With 1 infraction, drivers can be fined $368 and 4 penalty points, including paying a further $252 ICBC Driver Penalty Point premium, for a total of $620.

Drivers with two or more infractions over a three-year period are charged a Driver Risk Premium (DRP), billed annually and is separate from any insurance premiums they may have.
