BCAA’s Shom Sen Named a Glassdoor Top CEO in 2018

June 20, 2018, Burnaby, BC

BCAA’s President & CEO Shom Sen has won a Glassdoor Employees’ Choice Award recognizing the Top CEOs in 2018 in the Canada category. Glassdoor is one of the world’s largest job and recruiting sites. The awards highlight top leaders whom employees love working for in countries throughout North America and parts of Europe.

Among chief executives recognized by employees in Canada, Shom received an impressive approval rating of 93% based on the anonymous and voluntary reviews BCAA employees shared on Glassdoor throughout the past year. BCAA is one of only three BC-based companies in the Canadian top 25 and Shom is the only Auto Club CEO on both the Canadian and US Top CEO lists.

“BCAA has done a lot to invest in our workplace culture and Shom personifies our People First philosophy,” says BCAA Board Chair, Roger Barnsley. “Under Shom’s leadership BCAA has built a strong foundation focused on creating a progressive place to work and being there for our Members when they need us most. Shom is a genuinely kind and authentic person. He cares deeply about people and that shows in both the reviews on Glassdoor and how he works with BCAA employees every day.”

“Winning a Glassdoor Top CEO award is a true acknowledgement of exceptional leadership, as it reflects the opinions of the employees,” said Robert Hohman, Glassdoor co-founder and CEO. “The best CEOs are inspiring, trustworthy, innovative and can be great motivators for people to bring their best selves to work.”

When employees submit reviews about their company on Glassdoor, they are asked to rate various factors about their employment experience, including their overall satisfaction and other workplace attributes like senior management. As part of these ratings, employees are also asked to rate whether they approve, disapprove or are neutral about the job their CEO is doing.

Among the 770,000 companies reviewed on Glassdoor, the average CEO approval rating is 69 per cent.

Within the past year, BCAA has won several workplace excellence awards including being named a 2018 Canadian Best Employer by Aon and 2018 Canadian Best Employer for Recent Graduates by Mediacorp. Most recently, BCAA won the YWCA Outstanding Workplace Award as part of the 2018 YWCA Women of Distinction Awards.
