BCAA’s Evolve E-Bike Share Rolls Into Cumberland
Service Continues to Expand Across the Comox Valley
Comox Valley, BC, July 9, 2025 – BCAA’s Evolve is launching its public e-bike share service in the Village of Cumberland for the first time, with 6 new locations to make it easier for locals and visitors to explore more of the Village and other communities within the Comox Valley.
The new Cumberland locations are Cumberland Village Park, Village Square, First and Dunsmuir, Forest Hall Road, Solport Street, and Bruce and Coniston Crescent.
"We're excited to expand Evolve into the Village of Cumberland, to offer another way to explore more of the beautiful Comox Valley,” says Leanne Buhler, Head of Evolve E-Bike and E-Scooter Share. “The region has a strong commitment to active transportation, and it’s great to support their progressive thinking with a public e-bike share for safe, accessible and fun trips within and between communities.”
E-bikes can be accessed via the Evo app on iOS or Android. Riders simply unlock the Evolve E-Bike using their smartphone and go. Helmets are included, and pricing includes pay-per-minute and monthly plans. For more information, visit: How It Works | Evolve E-Bike Share
BCAA first launched Evolve in Courtenay and Comox in May last year and continues to expand its services across the region. It recently added 30 more e-bikes bringing the total fleet to 100; and added seven new locations including I-Hos Gallery, Kye Bay, Comox Valley Sports Centre and Comox Valley Curling Centre.
BCAA’s Evolve services are provided in collaboration with the Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD), with support from the City of Courtenay, Town of Comox, and Village of Cumberland. Evolve Parking Zones span across downtown and key residential areas, including local landmarks. The Evolve program is entirely self-funded by BCAA, without financial contributions from the CVRD or municipalities.
Evolve is growing rapidly in the province as more municipalities choose a local BC micromobility provider to keep their communities moving in active and accessible ways. In addition to Cumberland and the broader Comox Valley Region, Evolve also serves Nanaimo and Langford on the Island, and Whistler, Squamish and Vancouver’s North Shore region on the mainland.
