Evolve E-Bike & E-Scooter Share Coming to Parksville April 22

New pilot program will bring 50 shared e-bikes and e-scooters to more than 10 stations across the city

Parksville, BC, April 9, 2026 – Residents and visitors in Parksville will soon have a new way to get around with Evolve, created by BCAA, launching April 22. As part of a new pilot program, Evolve will introduce 20 e-bikes and 30 e-scooters , offering a convenient and flexible way to move around the city.

Evolve e-bikes and e-scooters will be available from more than 10 stations across Parksville, including:

  • Resort and tourism areas – Connecting the resort area near Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park to support visitors travelling between accommodations, beaches and local amenities.
  • Downtown core – Providing convenient access to shops, restaurants and services in central Parksville, helping residents and visitors move easily through downtown.
  • Retail and commercial hubs – Extending west toward major destinations such as Quality Foods, making it easier to travel in and out of downtown for everyday errands.
  • Key community connections – Linking residential areas, local businesses and recreational destinations to support short trips without needing a car.

“Introducing e-bike and e-scooter share with Evolve is a welcome addition to our transportation network and helps to address our ongoing efforts to roll out more active and accessible options that don’t add more cars to our roads,” says Mayor Doug O’Brien. “We’re looking forward to the positive impact Evolve will have on helping people in Parksville easily access our local businesses, nature and community amenities.”

“Expanding to Parksville is an exciting step in growing Evolve’s footprint across Vancouver Island and connecting more communities. Parksville helps link residents and visitors to local destinations while supporting active travel across the region,” says Leanne Buhler, Head of Evolve E-Bike & E-Scooter Share.

Safety continues to be a top priority for Evolve. Each Evolve E-Bike and E-Scooter comes equipped with built-in safety features like automatic lights, turn signals, and a shared helmet system to help ensure every ride is a safe one. To further support safe riding, Evolve will be hosting safety events in the community where riders can learn the rules of the road, practice safe riding habits, and get hands-on experience with e-bikes and e-scooters.

Evolve E-bike and E-scooter share, created by BCAA, is a made-in-BC service offering affordable and convenient micromobility options for communities across the province. The launch in Parksville is part of Evolve’s continued growth on Vancouver Island, building on existing programs in Nanaimo and the Comox Valley Regional District, and expanding to connect more communities across the region.
