BCAA’s Evolve E-Bike and E-Scooter Share Expands in Squamish

Expanded network, new micromobility options and positive rider feedback highlight continued growth in Squamish

Check out Evolve at the Squamish Farmers’ Market: Saturday, April 25 10am-2pm

Squamish, BC, April 21, 2026 – Evolve E-Bike and E-Scooter Share is expanding within the District of Squamish and on Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) lands, with a network of over 30 stations and the introduction of e-scooters, nearly doubling the system from 17 stations last year.

The expansion improves connectivity across the community and makes it easier for residents, students, and visitors to complete short trips without the need for a car.

The expanded network now includes over 10 new District of Squamish locations positioned to better connect residential neighbourhoods with local businesses and key destinations. A new station at the Capilano University Squamish campus provides students, staff, and visitors with a convenient first- and last-mile transportation option, while two new stations on Squamish Nation lands support improved connection within the community and surrounding areas.

Squamish Nation community members and staff have access to a reduced community rate through Evolve’s Inclusive Mobility Program, helping remove cost barriers and support more equitable access to transportation options across the region, particularly for those travelling between the Nation and the downtown core.

In a recent survey, 73% of respondents said Evolve adds value to the community’s transportation system. In addition, 64% of riders said they are more physically active as a result of using Evolve, while 70% reported that the service helps them enjoy the community more.

As the expanded network launches, Evolve will mark Earth Day on Wednesday, April 22 with free 30-minute e-bike and e-scooter rides in Squamish (just pay the $1.25 unlock fee), offering residents and visitors an opportunity to experience the expanded system and newly introduced Evolve E-Scooters.

“Expanding Evolve in Squamish is an important step in strengthening active transportation options and connecting more neighbourhoods, destinations and communities,” says Leanne Buhler, Head of Evolve E-Bike & E-Scooter Share. “With a larger network and the introduction of e-scooters, we’re making it easier for residents, students and visitors to choose convenient, car-free ways to get around the region.”

“The Evolve e-bike share program has proven to be successful in offering residents a new transportation choice in Squamish. The community has demonstrated a desire to have even more options to get around by bicycle and other micro-mobility modes such as e-scooters, says District of Squamish Mayor, Armand Hurford. “I look forward to this expansion and seeing how it will impact how people go about their day and better connect us all from Waiwakum to Downtown and Stawamus to the Garibaldi Estates. Providing these greater transportation choices aligns with the goals of our Transportation Master Plan and Community Climate Action Plan, offering safe and affordable transportation options that are also sustainable. I’d like to thank BCAA for delivering all of this with no tax dollars but rather through strong partnership.”

Safety continues to be a top priority for Evolve as they expand into e-scooters. Evolve encourages riders to attend Ride Safe events throughout the season, where they can meet the team and learn best practices for safe riding and parking. Each session is led by Evolve Ride Safe Educators trained by HUB Cycling instructors, offering practical guidance to help riders build confidence and ride safely. A full list of upcoming events and safety resources is available on the Evolve Ride Safe page.

Evolve E-Bike and E-Scooter Share, created by BCAA, is a made-in-BC service offering affordable and convenient micromobility options for communities across the province. The expansion in Squamish is part of Evolve’s continued growth, building on existing programs in Nanaimo and the Comox Valley Regional District, and expanding to connect more communities across the region.
