BCAA and British Columbians Raise Over $160,000 to Support Communities Impacted by BC Wildfires 

Support for the 2026 Canadian Red Cross BC Wildfires Appeal includes more than $60,000 in public and BCAA employee donations, amplified through BCAA's Emergency Relief Fund 

Burnaby, BC, August 28, 2026 – As communities across British Columbia continue to face the impacts of ongoing wildfires, BCAA, together with British Columbians, has raised more than $160,000 through BCAA’s Emergency Relief Fund (ERF) to support the 2026 Canadian Red Cross BC Wildfires Appeal. This includes over $60,000 in donations from BCAA employees and the public and an additional $100,000 through BCAA's corporate donation and double-matched public contributions.  

The Emergency Relief Fund is part of BCAA's Defending Against Wildfires initiative and helps bring together BCAA, its Members and the public to support people in BC during significant provincial emergencies.

Funds raised through the 2026 Canadian Red Cross BC Wildfires Appeal will help support emergency accommodations, basic needs, relief and recovery assistance, community response efforts and resilience initiatives for British Columbians impacted by wildfire. The Canadian Red Cross is working alongside Indigenous leadership and municipal, provincial and federal governments to coordinate support at the request of local authorities.

BCAA employees also attended the Resiliency Centre in Penticton to connect with residents affected by wildfire and share information about available support and recovery resources. The Emergency Relief Fund is one of several ways BCAA is supporting wildfire resilience across the province through its Defending Against Wildfires initiative. BCAA's Fireweed Pin campaign continues through September, raising funds for wildfire resilience and recovery efforts in support of the First Nations Emergency Services Society and Canadian Mental Health Association BC.
