New to British Columbia? Join a welcoming community on BCAA Connect

Moving to BC is exciting, but it might feel a little overwhelming at first. From getting settled to finding your new favourite hiking trails or local cafés, there’s a lot to take in.

If you’ve ever moved somewhere new, you know how valuable local advice can be. That's why we created a welcoming place for newcomers to learn and share — on BCAA Connect.

What is BCAA Connect?

BCAA Connect is a free, online community for people living in BC to swap tips, share local knowledge and support each other — at home and on the move.

With more than 6,500 members, it brings together people who want to learn from one another and make the most of life in the province.

Within BCAA Connect, groups allow members to join focused conversations around specific topics and interests, like smart savings, home projects and exploring the province.

Why a community for newcomers?

Starting life in a new province or country comes with plenty of questions:

  • How do I get set up in BC?
  • How do I get around safely and affordably?
  • What are the little tips that make everyday life easier?

Many newcomers turn to social media or forums for answers, but information can be scattered, outdated or hard to verify.

BCAA Connect’s Newcomers to BC group aims to provide something different – a trusted, locally rooted community where people can share real-life experiences and practical tips.

What’s in the Newcomers to BC group?

BCAA Connect community members who join the Newcomers to BC group can expect:

  • Practical advice for settling in – tips on housing, transport, exploring the province.
  • Insights from locals – real experiences shared by people who call BC home.
  • A welcoming, secure space — moderated daily, with Community Guidelines that help keep conversations respectful and supportive.

A community built on local knowledge

While the Newcomers to BC group is designed to support people who are new to the province, long‑time residents play an important role too.

Sharing local tips, whether it’s a favourite road trip or advice on navigating BC’s seasons, can make a real difference for someone starting fresh.

We aim to bring people together through shared experiences of life in our province. It’s about building connections and helping people feel at home.

Sometimes the best guide to a new place isn’t a leaflet. It’s a community.

Join BC’s trusted online community and be part of the conversation.
