Celebrating Pride

At BCAA, we believe in the power of community, and that together we can create a more vibrant, inclusive and connected province for everyone. The Global Diversity Equity and Inclusion Benchmarks (GDEIB) – such as supporting underrepresented groups – help guide our progress and initiatives.

For years, BCAA and Evo Car Share have partnered with local Pride societies to convey our support for 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, and stand up for freedom, dignity and equality for all. We’ve partnered with the Vancouver Pride Society (VPS) since 2017, joining the Vancouver Pride Parade, and supporting Drag Deliveries – local drag performers in Evos, engaging people in Pride trivia and generating buzz for Pride. This year, 38 BCAA and Evo team members proudly joined the parade with their friends & family to celebrate love, diversity and inclusion. 

Throughout Pride season, we run a giving opportunity for our team members, BCAA Members and customers to raise funds together for organizations supporting 2SLGBTQIA+ communities. This year, we supported Rainbow Refugee Society, QMUNITY and Sher Pride Canada in their impactful work.

Advancing Inclusion

As an organization, active steps to advance 2SLGBTQIA+ inclusion include incorporating personal pronouns into name tags and email signatures for those who choose to self-identify. A resource toolkit helps team members learn more about personal pronouns, gender identity and expression, inclusive language and more. We also support team members undergoing gender transition through medical leave and gender-affirming benefits and offer training around accessible and affirming workplaces.

Space for Diverse Voices

At BCAA, Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) help create a workplace where team members can connect, feel supported and learn from one another. These employee-led communities bring together members, advocates and allies around shared experiences and interests offering space for conversations, peer support and meaningful connection. BCAA has four ERGs: Mental Health & Wellness, Women@Work, Diversability and Friends2SLGBTQIA+.  

Our 2SLGBTQIA+ ERG is a welcoming space for members and allies of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities to connect, share experiences and support one another. The group focuses on creating an inclusive and supportive environment where every voice is heard and valued, and where allies can learn, listen and advocate in meaningful ways.

ERGs at BCAA give team members a place to bring their authentic selves to work, celebrate their identities and engage in open conversations about the topics that matter most to them.

The 2SLGBTQIA+ ERG regularly hosts learning and storytelling sessions that highlight diverse voices and lived experiences.

Through these conversations, the ERG continues to strengthen connections across BCAA, build understanding and inspire pride in the power of diversity and inclusion. Together, we’re creating a workplace where everyone feels seen, supported and celebrated for who they are.
