MSP stands for Medical Services Plan, which is a health insurance program in British Columbia, Canada. It covers medically necessary services from doctors, dentists, and other health care providers. New residents to BC need to apply and are eligible for MSP three months after their arrival date.

We recommend reviewing your emergency medical insurance policy’s coverage limits to ensure they are adequate, as medical bills while you wait for MSP can be very costly.

If you’re planning to travel outside of Canada, review what countries are listed on your policy to learn where coverage applies.
