Seat Belts

Keep your child in a booster seat until they are at least 9 years old or have reached the height of 145cm (4'9").

Once your child is using a vehicle seat belt, make sure it:

  • Fits comfortably over the child’s shoulder
  • Across their chest
  • Sits low over their hips

Remember:

  • If the shoulder belt rubs against the child’s neck, they may need to remain in a booster seat
  • Never place a shoulder belt behind a child's back or under their arm
  • Keep children 12 years old and under secured in the back seat
